Hospice of the Red River Valley and House Calls Celebrate National Hospice & Palliative Care Month
November 1, 2024
“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth, and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Tracee Capron, Executive Director of Hospice of the Red River Valley and House Calls, has dedicated her life to ensuring that individuals with serious illnesses can live their best lives every day. Her passion for hospice care was ignited over 30 years ago when her grandmother became seriously ill in the hospital. Longing for the comfort of home, her grandmother was able to return thanks to the compassionate assistance of hospice care. Witnessing her family come together to support her grandmother during this crucial time profoundly impacted Tracee. She realized the importance of comfort and support in those moments, inspiring her to pursue a nursing career specializing in hospice and palliative care.
This November, as we observe National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we take a moment to honor the dedication of the #CareHeroes who provide essential support to patients and families. From staff and caregivers to volunteers and family members, these individuals work tirelessly to ensure that comfort and quality of life remain a priority for those facing serious illnesses.
As #CareHeroes, we continue to respond to the needs of our community. The need for care at home and in the community is greater than ever before with an increasing elderly population and limited access to hospice care in our rural areas. In response, Hospice of the Red River Valley is committed to putting our Hearts In Action, expanding services to meet the needs of underserved areas, including areas in and surrounding Minot, Devils Lake, Bismarck and Jamestown to ensure continued access to support those living with serious illnesses.
We invite you to join us as #CareHeroes in supporting Heather’s House, North Dakota’s first free-standing hospice house. This facility will provide intensive comfort care for those who need it most, fulfilling a dream that has been over 25 years in the making. By creating a dedicated space where patients and families can find the support and care they need towards the end of life, Hospice of the Red River Valley is driven to enhance the quality of hospice services in the region. Heather’s House will be a special place of care and support, projected to open Spring 2025, and located at 3800 56th Ave. S., Fargo, ND 58104.
As we celebrate National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, let us recognize the invaluable contributions of those working in hospice and palliative care. By supporting initiatives like Heather’s House, we can all become #CareHeroes, ensuring that comfort, dignity and support are available to those who need it most. Together, we join in making every moment matter.
